“Hi! My name is Aurelio and I am in Year 13 . I am one of the longest-attending students of Winstedt. I joined this school in August of 2013 as a Year One student. I will be very sad when I graduate next year because Winstedt has been my second home for the past 12 years.
Aurelio C, Year 13
During this time, I have made many friends who have come and gone. I would like to acknowledge three special friends: Affef and I have been classmates since August of 2013 . He is helpful, supportive and kind hearted. He helps me with my schoolwork and tries to include me when I am left out of a group. During school breaks, we often take walks and reminisce of the moments when we were little kids in the old campus. We would also talk about staying in contact with each other as Affef will move to Australia for his university studies after completion of his Military Service.
I met Harry when he was trialing in School; I was the one that brought him around the school. Since this time, our friendship has grown. Harry is very friendly and sociable. He introduced me to most of his friends outside of school. He often organises group gatherings and parties.
Owen is very encouraging as he helps me to prepare for the future such as what to expect in relationships and Military service. He also helped me a lot in football such as my positioning, passing and shot accuracy.
In Winstedt, I also had the opportunity of having wonderful and patient teachers by my side, helping me to grow and develop.
Mr Fabian has made maths concepts easier to understand for me. For example, we played games such as Battleships, that required understanding of coordinates, strategy and teamwork.
Mr August has really helped me improve my creative thinking skills during his English classes. He has patiently worked with me to develop my creativity when writing paragraphs for work packets in English as well as helping me structure my thoughts with the evidence sandwich.
Mr Ivan helped me discover different formatting techniques such as numbered lists, bulleted lists and many more.
Mr Jordan helped me discover my passion for rock music and performing in a band. I became a confident drummer thanks to his teachings on how to keep the band in sync during concerts. Over the last three years, I have improved in my drumming as well as keeping the band on time.
Mr Sree was great at making his lessons fun and interactive. He knows my learning style and therefore he uses role-play to make it engaging for me. Although he was fun, he was also firm by talking to me about the importance of not swearing in school.
Mr Ulrik helped me become a better builder in the Renovators Club. I learnt how to use dangerous machinery such as drills and jigsaws to cut wood planks and build tables. He triggered my interest in show production by making me responsible for sound tech and lighting for school events.
The next thing that I will miss is serving on the Prefect Board and Executive Committee as a Vice Head Prefect. I enjoyed mentoring the junior prefects because I like developing my leadership skills. I also enjoy the weekly meetings where we plan school events. One of the most memorable events is the School Open House where I had the opportunity to give a tour of the school to prospective parents. I enjoyed interacting with the parents and answering their questions.
The last thing that I will miss at Winstedt is the Rock Band. I have been part of it for the past 3 years as the only drummer of the band and enjoyed every moment of it!
