Pastoral Care and Counselling
We know that students today are facing challenges unknown to earlier generations. To proactively address the ever-changing needs of today’s learners, we continue to tailor and customise our social and emotional learning curriculum aimed at fostering each child’s social, emotional, and academic well-being. Combined with our innovative integrated therapy model, our pastoral care provisions are evidence-based approaches designed to enable the student to experience a truly holistic education.
At Winstedt, we do not see children as “little adults” and we do not scale down their counseling. A child’s developmental stages, environment, and reasons for seeking out help necessitate a different and at times, creative approach to counseling. Our students have access to an in-house team of experienced professionals that include School Counsellors, Psychologists, Behavioral Therapists and a School Nurse to help them succeed as a whole person. Our school psychologist can also administer screening tools to assess a child’s specific challenges as well as strengths.
In addition to supporting our students, Winstedt’s pastoral care specialists provide guidance, training and support to teachers and parents to help reinforce the evidence-based strategies in and outside the classroom. We believe that teamwork is the foundation to our model and what has made our strategies so effective and impactful for our students.
