MEALS AND NUTRITION
The Winstedt School believes that when school health policies and practices are put in place, healthy students can grow to be healthy and successful adults.
View Winstedt’s Healthy School Guideline & Policy for all staff, students, and parents. The School adopted the following guiding principles in developing the policy:
- Using a schoolwide and community wide approach to addressing health and nutrition in school. The model is student-centred and emphasises the role of the Winstedt community including staff, students, and parents in supporting the School.
- Applying evidence-based policies and practices as a basis for Healthy School Guideline and Policy.
- Taking a holistic consideration in School practices that also take into account respect for different cultures, and celebrations to promote a vibrant School community and enjoyable experience for the students.
The School currently advances various initiatives to promote a healthy school including a school fruit scheme, through our Nutrition & Food curriculum, and by selecting a lunch provider that focuses on sustainability, and provides allergen-free and vegetarian, plant-based meal options freshly made each day. Lunch meals for our students do not contain nuts, pork or shellfish. Products and meats are also sourced from Halal suppliers.
The Winstedt School has contracted Victus Catering to provide healthy school lunches and snacks for our students and staff. We also provide daily fresh fruits readily available for our students throughout the day (included in the school fees) aside from the lunch meals.
The Victus Catering company provides a wide selection of snacks, and healthy Western, Asian, Vegetarian, and Allergen-free meal options freshly made daily in their kitchen, and delivered straight to The Winstedt School.
We start the week with “Meatless Monday”, where Victus Catering serves delicious vegetarian and plant-based options.
The meals do not contain nuts, pork or shellfish. Although the kitchen is not certified Halal, all of their products and meats are sourced from Halal suppliers.
