When SENIA asked for actionable inclusion tips, our team showed up! Here’s what inclusion looks like in our classrooms, straight from the people who live it every day:

  • Mr David
    One inclusive teaching practice I use is that I try to use multiple ways for my students to engage with me and show their learning. For example, instead of requiring only written answers, I allow students to explain their ideas verbally, through drawings, or even with digital tools. This recognises that students have different strengths, needs, and ways of expressing themselves. By doing this, I send the message: your voice matters and there are many valid ways to learn and contribute.
  • Ms Yogini
    For me, inclusivity starts with helping students recognise their own needs and wants and learners, then planning with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) – clear steps, choices in how to show understanding, and supports built in from the start.
  • Ms Shivani
    Inclusivity in education goes beyond access; it’s about support. That means providing accommodations such as calculators, text-to-speech tools, or multiple ways for students to show their understanding (UDL). Most importantly, it’s about normalising these supports so they’re not seen as add-ons, but as part of everyday learning.
