A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who joined our Junior Years Therapy Parent Training session on Self-Advocacy and Assertiveness in the Social Setting, led by Ms Tanya (Principal Occupational Therapist) and Ms Chrystabel (Senior Speech and Language Therapist)!
We explored the skills necessary for a child’s growth, focusing on social-emotional, language, communication, executive function, and social skills. Together, we delved into the meaning of self-advocacy and practical strategies for building these essential skills.
From problem-solving to decision-making and assertiveness, we discussed how these abilities shape our students’ perspectives and interactions. We also explored collaborative ways for parents and teachers to create supportive environments, integrating self-advocacy activities into both school and home routines.
